Emy Maloutas is passionate about plants, nature and health of individuals and community.
Trained in permaculture (1997) and as a landscape architect (2005) Emy has designed beautiful, ecological food producing landscape at many scales. Her passion has been landscape scale planning, riparian restoration and inclusive community engagement across the United States.
She has worked in local government and with conservancies for the protection of natural lands in California, Colorado and Utah. She helped build and grow Salt Lake City's Open Space Lands Program focusing on strategic planning, acquisition and advocay. She was appointed to direct Salt Lake City's parks, open space, urban forest, and historic city cemetery.
In 2015, she began consulting on utility scale solar projects to increase native plant use, pollinator habitat and sustainable landscape implementation and maintenance; truly greening green energy.
She had the honor of being elected the Mayor of Ward Colorado in 2019.
She has worked in the field of sustainable agriculture begin in 1998 managing an organic apple orchard. She has collaborated with the California Association of Family Farmers, California Rare Fruit Grower, Community Agriculture Alliance in Steamboat Springs Colorado, participated in North Carolina Sustainable Ag conferences and individual native seed producers and shepards. Since the fall of 2020 she has grown a tropical food forest in Bokeelia, FL
on Pine Island.
